Paul Elizondo Tower

Paul Elizondo Tower
Bexar County Justice Center – Phase II

The expansion takes the form of an 11-story high-rise addition to the south façade of the existing Justice Center (also a Muñoz & Company project) where significant effort was taken to maintain the integrity of the existing south entry and related sunken courtyard, including restoration and re-use of existing stone sculptural elements designed and fabricated by renowned Texas artist Sandy Stein. The architectural style of the building reflects the serious, important nature of the County justice system, and incorporates the same native materials as the original Justice Center.

The Expansion is a Design-Build project utilizing bridging documents. Muñoz & Co. was a member of the Zachry Design-Build team.

The Justice Center Expansion provides primarily additional office space including additional file storage and office areas for the County Clerk and District Clerks, new conference rooms, additional office space for the District Attorney’s office, as well as a new executive penthouse for the County Commissioner’s offices and support staff.  The project is designed to achieve a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, LEED Silver Certification utilizing among other “green” practices, the collection of condensate from the mechanical systems for irrigation.
